Social media offers support for struggling teens

Hundreds of Twitter accounts have been created by teens with a history of a mental health or substance abuse problems offering advice, guidance and support to others. It's a positive development, says Temple psychologist Mark Salzer, who has studied peer support in online settings. "A great number of folks who actively participate in these different forms of peer support really like it, and really find it quite meaningful," he said.
