Temple pledges continued support to TUJ

People around the world, including those at Temple, have mobilized to provide aid to Japan, a country that is recovering from a devastating earthquake and tsunami. Temple which opened its Tokyo camps 29 years ago. In early May, the Consul General of Japan in New York came to Temple for a Daruma doll ceremony. The Daruma is a talisman of good luck and the ceremony was a symbol of Temple's continued commitment to Japanese culture. "The legend is that you color in one eye when you make a very, very important commitment or goal," said Temple President Ann Weaver Hart. "There is a consensus that [Temple University, Japan Campus] is a campus that took many years to make a viable operation and we should continue to support it," said Hai-Lung Dai, senior vice provost for international affairs and dean of the College of Science and Technology at Temple.
