USA Today: Risk-taking behaviors drive sex scandals
The roster of politicians scorched in sexually tinged scandals refreshes itself on a regular basis, leading to outrage, broken families and, on occasion, criminal charges. The overarching question asked by the public is the same: What were you thinking? "It's risk-taking," said Frank Farley, a psychologist at Temple. "We want bold leadership, we don't want a timid wallflower in these positions. The thing is there are two sides to risk-taking and the negative side is where you do things and, in a sense, you can't stop yourself."
