Temple researchers have found that, when deciding between a low-carb or low-fat diet, low-carb may be the way to go. Both low-fat and low-carb diets can help people lose weight, but a new federally-funded study from Temple's Center for Obesity Research and Education showed that a low-carb diet might be better for your heart. The study compared dieters on a low-fat diet versus a low-carb diet. Low-carb plans, which usually involve a higher intake of protein, have been controversial in years past. Some organizations believe that the low-carb regimen restricts important vitamins and minerals that the body needs.
