International Programs to be restructured, VP search under way

Announcement from President Ann Weaver Hart regarding International Programs:

Building strength in Temple University’s international programs and extending our global reach in teaching, research and engagement is a key priority for the university.

To reinforce this priority and promote its continued success, I am pleased to announce plans for a new administrative structure that will enable growth in this important area for Temple’s future.

With Robert Reinstein’s recent announcement that he will retire from his role as vice president for International Programs at the end of this academic year, the portfolio for all international programs, the new vice president for International Programs and all of the programs around Temple University Japan and TempleRome will be repositioned in the Office of the Provost.

The Office of the Provost will manage the search for a new vice president. This reconstituted, dedicated position will have direct responsibility for expanding Temple’s infrastructure in all areas of international education. The search will be conducted internally to draw upon the wealth of expertise in international education that exists throughout Temple. Interested candidates may contact Harry Young, associate vice president, Human Resources, at 215-204-3317 or harry.young@temple.edu. The position announcement may be found online at Temple’s Internal Posting System. Please search by job number TU10563.

The Office of the Provost will simultaneously conduct a search for a new dean of Temple University Japan to succeed Kirk Patterson upon his retirement from that position in December.

With successful international programs in China, at Temple University Japan, Temple Rome and around the world, Temple has the infrastructure, history and the international presence of few American universities. These important administrative advances will establish the infrastructure necessary to position Temple as a truly global university.
