Offering our sympathy
To the Temple community:
With deep sadness, we are writing to share tragic news. Ajay Agnihotri, a fourth-year student in the College of Liberal Arts, died Monday evening when he was hit by a vehicle a few blocks from Main Campus. Ajay, of Reinholds in Lancaster County, was 27 years old and a double major in political science and economics.
Ajay was walking near the intersection of 8th Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue at 8:40 p.m. Monday when a car traveling the wrong way on 8th Street fatally struck him and fled the scene. Police subsequently found the vehicle, a dark gray Hyundai sedan, abandoned near 8th and Berks streets.
Philadelphia Police and Temple Police are working together to locate the driver of the vehicle. If you have any information about this tragic incident, we urge you to contact Temple Police at 215-204-1234, or via the confidential tip line at 215-204-6493, or call the Philadelphia Police Accident Investigation Division at 215-685-3180.
On behalf of everyone at Temple, we want to extend our deepest condolences to Ajay’s family, friends, classmates and all others who knew him personally. The death of any member of our community is heartbreaking and takes a significant emotional toll on us all. We encourage anyone in need of support to contact Tuttleman Counseling Services, which provides a variety of resources for both individuals and groups. You can find more information by visiting Tuttleman’s website or calling 215-204-7276.
