Chase Utley's injuries are long-term problems
(There is no link to this story)
The Phillies' home opener is April 1, but there are a few members of the team who are already suffering from injuries. Second baseman Chase Utley's chronic knee injury has made it unlikely that he'll be ready for the opening game. "The wear and tear on his knee is something he's been dealing with for a long time, due to the stress of playing all those games," said Heather Vickus, an orthopedic technician at Temple's School of Medicine. "Hopefully they'll be able to do something to relieve the pain, but it doesn't sound like it will get any better."
