AC looks to Vegas for revival plan

Atlantic City recently launched a new tourism district in an effort to boost economic redevelopment, and its plan borrows elements from Las Vegas' redevelopment of Freemont Street. But Temple history professor Bryant Simon said some of the components of Atlantic City's plan may not work. "In some places, these models worked differently. They got people on the street and created density in places where there was already valuable real estate. They hadn't been battered in the same way as Atlantic City has, so they could build on assets already had," Simon said.
