Immigration law expert Peter Spiro, a professor at Temple's Beasley School of Law, commented in two separate Bloomberg stories about a federal judge's recent decision to block parts of Arizona's controversial immigration law. "The administration should be pleased with this victory, but this is a continuing struggle here," Spiro said. "You end up with an unintended consequence of rebuffing states from acting on their own. It forces them to go to Washington." In another report, Spiro explained why Arizona may have a difficult time with an immediate appeal. "The key provisions of the Arizona law were unprecedented," Spiro said. "It's a sound ruling."
