Upholding law demonstrates Court's ability to keep politics out of cases

Chief Justice Roberts’ opinion upholding much of the Affordable Care Act should quiet critics who say the court acts out of partisan impulses. "It is going to send a message that this court is deciding cases not just on politics…and that it is really committed to the law," said Robert Reinstein, a professor at Temple’s Beasley School of Law. "That will give it credibility for future decisions that may be more ideological."
