Amy Oppong Yeboah will end her 10-year stint as a Temple student when she receives her Ph.D. in African American Studies this week. A Bronx native born to parents who immigrated to New York from Ghana, Yeboah came to Temple in 2003 and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in sociology and master’s degrees in sociology and African American studies.

But when she arrived on Main Campus, she felt like she had been plopped headfirst into unfamiliar territory. To connect with other international students, she joined Temple's International Student Association, and eventually became the group's president.
