Medicine professor selected among region's most influential latinos

 

Enrique Hernandez, professor and chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Temple University School of Medicine, has been selected one of the “Delaware Valley’s Most Influential Latinos” for 2012. He was selected for the honor by the Most Influential Latinos Foundation, whose stated mission is to support and encourage Latino leadership and empowerment. Dr. Hernandez will be recognized, along with the other honorees, at a gala dinner and celebration on Nov. 29 in Philadelphia.

Hernandez is also professor of pathology at the School of Medicine, and section chief of gynecologic oncology at Temple University Hospital. His research interests include clinical trials on gynecologic malignancies, evaluation and management of abnormal PAP smears and cervical cancer and its precursors.

Hernandez holds several leadership positions outside of Temple, including second vice president of the American Cancer Society and positions on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American College of Surgeons.
