Off-campus move-out trash collection program

Dear students,

Many of you will be moving out of your off-campus residences in the coming months. This move-out process often results in large piles of trash and unwanted furniture accumulating on the streets and sidewalks throughout the neighborhoods surrounding campus. This is very disruptive to the residents who live and work in the area, and it creates challenges for the city’s sanitation workers.

To mitigate this problem, we are launching TUmove—a free program through which students can schedule the pickup of their large trash items when moving out of their off-campus residences located within the patrol zone. You simply complete this form, and your scheduled pickup time will be confirmed. This service is in addition to the dumpsters the university places throughout the neighborhood each spring for garbage disposal.

Local residents—many of whom have lived in these neighborhoods for decades—often complain about the trash accumulation during student move-in and move-out, and this program is designed to provide students an easy and free option for discarding their unwanted items. Being a good neighbor and respecting the community is important, and we encourage all of you to take advantage of this program.

More information about the program, including eligible items, dumpster locations and the form to schedule the pickup, is available on the TUmove website.

Please contact moveout@temple.edu with any questions.

Thank you for doing your part in being a good neighbor. We appreciate your participation in the program.

Sincerely,

Ken Kaiser
