Arrest made related to Feb. 10 incident near Broad Street

To the Temple community,

On Tuesday, Feb. 13,  at 8:00 p.m, officers with the Philadelphia Police Department arrested a 15-year-old male in connection with the “meet-up” from this past weekend. He is alleged to be the male who discharged a weapon on two separate occasions on Saturday, Feb. 10,  near Broad Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue during the juvenile gathering.

The suspect was charged with gun related offenses. A weapon believed to have been used during this incident was recovered.

We thank Temple Police Officers and Detectives, Philadelphia Police and the media for bringing the search for the suspect to a conclusion. We are grateful for all those in the community who provided video, photos and other tips that assisted in this investigation. We are pleased that the person allegedly responsible for these dangerous and irresponsible acts will be held accountable for their actions.

Additionally, we want the Temple community to be aware that there may be another meet up being planned for Saturday afternoon and evening, which is being promoted on social media. As soon as we became aware of the social media post, Temple Public Safety immediately made contact with the Philadelphia Police.  We have few details on the planned event, but we will continue to coordinate and work together to provide coverage and appropriate resources. We will push out information and updates through our social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram and X, as well as TUalerts, when needed.

Students are reminded to become familiar with the university’s available safety resources, which can be found here
