Many families are expected to pursue adding adult children, up to age 26, back onto parents' insurance plans over the next few months under one of several provisions of the federal health reform law, which took effect Thursday. Tom Getzen, a professor in the Risk, Insurance and Healthcare Management Department in Temple's Fox School of Business, says adding young and healthy people, who are less likely to need health care, into an insurance pool is a positive thing. When a large segment of the population is uninsured, Getzen said, "confusion, chaos and costs" increase.
