Chronicle: E-book partnership led by TU Press becomes "big player"

A partnership of university presses led by Temple University Press and four of its peers joined forces with another e-book powerhouse to form the University Press Content Consortium. The group aims "to collect, host, and market scholarly e-book collections to the library marketplace." Alex Holzman, director of TU Press and a member of the UPEC planning committee, explained why the new consortium will require participating presses to sell collections of e-books exclusively through UPCC. "All our research and all our encounters with librarians told us again and again they didn’t want to buy the same book twice in collections from different places," Holzman said.
