Nukes no problem…yet

The Philadelphia region has the highest concentration of nuclear power reactors in the United States. So what happens to all of the spent nuclear fuel rods from those reactors? Each power plant uses its own on-site storage facility instead of a proposed national storage facility. While that may not be a problem right now, this process can't go on forever, says Temple physicist Jeff Martoff. "You're going to run out of space in the parking lot at these plants to store this stuff. You can't let this go on forever, okay? But there's no plan in place to deal with it."
