Philadelphia Deputy Mayor of Public Safety Everett Gillison told City Council this week that the city expects another 200 to 400 cameras as result of a $2 million Homeland Security grant. "I think it’s too early to tell whether the CCTV cameras are going to be effective in the way that people think they are," said Jerry Ratcliffe of Temple's Department of Criminal Justice. "It's possible that cameras may reduce disorderly crime, but I think it’s important that the city get the existing cameras up and running."
