Student study of social media reveals dependence
To make students' research come alive, psychology professor Kathy Hirsh-Pasek asked her class to abstain from social media for a day and then report on the results. Fourteen students survived the day. Senior Shayna Lowry was not one of them. "The study actually made me change the way I use my cell phone and whether I'm going to pick up my cell phone and text someone in the course of a conversation with someone else. It actually made me re-evaluate how I approach situations," Lowry said.
