TU Press book a "masterful overview" of local civil rights chapter

Inquirer columnist Annette John-Hall called Tasting Freedom: Octavius Catto and the Battle for Equality in Civil War America — a Temple University Press publication co-authored by Daniel R. Biddle and Murray F. Dubin — "a masterful overview of Philadelphia's original civil rights movement." Protests in today's Middle East and Wisconsin make the book feel especially relevant, wrote John-Hall. "If ever there was a time to see how Catto's quest for liberty in the 19th century melds with the mass protests for liberty that followed, it is now," she wrote.
