Your guide to what’s open for in-person use on campus

This fall, many Temple facilities and services are open and available for in-person use. This list will help you find out what’s open, when, and how to access the various resources.

We know you may have a lot of questions about which campus services are open for in-person use. You may be wondering what the hours are for the cardio equipment at Campus Rec, or whether or not the Game Room in the Student Center is open. And did someone mention Zoom Zones? Where are those located again? Look no further. We have the details you need to make full use of campus this fall.

And remember, when you use our Temple resources, you need to continue to practice the four public health pillars at all times and you may be required to make a reservation or an appointment in advance. 

Here’s what you need to know.

MAIN CAMPUS

Campus Recreation
Staying active is important for both your physical and mental well-being, and Campus Rec has what you need to thrive. Reservations are required.

IBC Student Recreation Center—1st and 2nd Floor
The first floor offers the use of Smith Machines, Dual Adjustable Cable Stations and a Selectorized Machine Circuit. The second floor offers stepmills and treadmills.
Monday through Friday: 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Pearson and McGonigle Halls3rd Floor Rec Courts
Currently the third floor has been reimagined as a cardio center, which you can make a reservation to use. At this time activities such as basketball, volleyball and badminton are unavailable.
Monday through Friday: 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: Noon–5 p.m.

Pearson Hall Pool
Lap swimming is available in 45-minute blocks.
Monday through Friday: 7–9 a.m.; 11 a.m.–2 p.m.; 4 p.m.–7p.m.

Geasey Outdoor Turf
Activities that involve close contact and physical activity with another person are strictly prohibited. But, you can still do things like have a baseball catch, toss a frisbee, pass and dribble a soccer ball, play catch with a lacrosse ball, and general exercise (think jumping jacks and burpees). Reservations are required.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: Noon–3 p.m.
Tuesday: 3 p.m.–7 p.m.
Thursday 4:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: Noon–5 p.m.

Tennis Courts
Reserve a court and be sure to bring your own racquets and tennis balls.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 10 a.m.– Noon
Tuesday and Thursday: 7:30–9:30 a.m.; 11:30a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Saturday: 2:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m.
Sunday: 12:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m.

Aramark STAR Complex Outdoor Track
You do not need a reservation to use the outdoor track.
Open seven days a week: 5 a.m.–11 p.m.

Charles Library
Charles Library is open for in-person use. Study spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and special collections and the Makerspace are available by appointment. For research consultations, librarians will continue to hold appointments as online meetings via Zoom. In addition, Charles Library hosts a wide variety of events online, including author talks and concerts.

Special Collections Research Center
Access to the Special Collections Research Center Reading Room is currently by appointment only. Call 215-204-8257 or email scrc@temple.edu to make an appointment.

Loretta C. Duckworth Scholars Studio
Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

BookBot
Monday through Thursday: 8 a.m.–8 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m.–4:45 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m..–4:45 p.m.
Sunday: Noon–4:45 p.m.

Charles L. Blockson Afro-American Collection
To visit the Blockson Afro-American Collection, use the reading room, or receive research assistance, you must make a reservation ahead of time by emailing Librarian Aslaku Berhanu at aberhanu@temple.edu, or by calling her at 215-204-4723.

TECH Center
The TECH Center offers students access to technology of all kinds, including Windows machines, Macs and printers. Breakout rooms, recording booths and multimedia rooms are available by reservation
Mondays through Thursday: 7:30 a.m.–10 p.m.
Friday: 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m
Saturday and Sunday: 10:30 a.m–7 p.m

Howard Gittis Student Center
The student center is open Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday adn Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Everything within the building is open, with the exception of the REEL Cinema. The food court continues to offer many options, while Starbucks, the book store, the credit union, the UPS Store, the Graphics Media Center, the game room, lounges, meeting rooms and The Village Zoom Rooms—plus all the common areas—are all available for studying, hanging out, watching TV and relaxing.

Zoom Zones
Looking for a safe and quiet space with access to Wi-Fi for studying or attending classes online? Try a Zoom Zone. 

A Zoom Zone is a designated room or area inside a Temple academic building where a student or multiple students may use Wi-Fi in a physically distanced space. Zones are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Cottage Hall and Widener Hall
Monday through Friday: 8 a.m–6p.m. 

Learning Center
Monday through Sunday: 8 a.m–10 p.m. 
Saturday: 8 a.m–5 p.m.

Red Barn Gym
Monday through Thursday: Noon–7 p.m. 

West Hall
Monday through Thursday: 8:30 a.m. –5 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Study Rooms
The Ambler Campus Library has ample study spaces including comfortable chairs, tables on which to spread out and individual carrels. Library spaces are available on a first-come, first served basis.

Breakout Room
Learning Center Room 115 is a breakout room available to students on a reservation basis for groups of two students. Make your reservation online

Outdoor Zones
The Ambler Arboretum gardens have benches, picnic tables and WiFi.  
The Learning Center Commons has picnic tables, Adirondack chairs and social distancing circles.

Zoom Zones
Temple Ambler has Zoom Zones available for you to join your remote classes—be sure to bring your own earphones (3.5 mm wired headphones). Zoom Zones, which are available on a first come first served basis.

Tyler School of Art and Architecture Designated Studio Desks
To reserve your designated studio desk, please visit https://tyler.temple.edu/room-reservations. Please note that a punch code is required to enter each Ambler Campus studio. Contact the Landscape Architecture and Horticulture programs office at la-hort@temple.edu or 267-468-8181 for more information.
 

TEMPLE UNIVRSITY CENTER CITY CAMPUS (TUCC)
 
TUCC Tech Center
Monday through Thursday: 9 a.m.–9 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m.–4 p.m.

Study Rooms
There are individual study rooms on the sixth floor available on a first come, first served basis. Students can also study in the lounges on each floor.  Socially distanced seating is arranged for your safety.

Zoom Zones
TUCC has a Zoom Zone available for you to join your remote classes—be sure to bring your own earphones (3.5 mm wired headphones). The TUCC Zoom Zone is located in Room 413.  You should check in with the IT staff in room 404 first.

Barnes and Noble Café
Monday through Friday: 7:30 a.m.–3 p.m.
