Cool stuff to do on campus this October
Enjoy the cozy vibes at Temple this season.
Updated Oct. 4, 2022
It’s fall, y’all. What’s not to love about a time marked by pumpkin patches, hayrides, leaf peeping and haunted houses? To commemorate arguably the best season of the year, Temple is offering various fun activities. Check out the following events to celebrate sweater weather.
Nothing but net
Want to blow off steam with your friends? Look no further than Net Night, a chance to play sports like volleyball, badminton and table tennis.
Every Friday in October, 7 p.m., Pearson Hall (1800 N. Broad St.), 3rd floor
Be mindful
With looming deadlines and exams, it’s easy to lose yourself in anxious thoughts and doubts. If you’re finding it hard to relax, learn to practice mindfulness and related techniques to de-stress and be fully present in the moment through guided activities from the Wellness Resource Center.
Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2–2:30 p.m., online via Zoom
Get thrifty
In this inflated economy, bargains are always a win. Stop by this pop-up thrift shop, where all clothing items are less than $10. In addition to helping the environment by wearing this gently used clothing, you’ll raise money for the Cherry Pantry.
Wednesday, Oct. 12, 10 a.m., Bell Tower
Temple Theaters presents ‘Once on This Island’
Looking for an escape? Immerse yourself in this theatrical production inspired by Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Mermaid. This musical follows brave peasant girl named Ti Moune, guided by island gods, as she embarks on an epic journey of self-discovery.
Oct. 13–22, 7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m., Randall Theater (2020 N. 13 St.)
We are the world
Celebrate Temple’s diversity during our first-ever Super Mega Global Week, an amalgamation of the previous Study Abroad Week and #YouAreWelcomeHere Week. The events honoring cultures around the world include a kickoff, Temple Lingo, an International Coffee Hour focusing on sustainability, tai chi, the Study Abroad Fair and a Global Gala. The best part? Attend any event and you’ll be eligible to bag the grand prize—a sustainable travel kit—or one of many secondary prizes. The more you check out, the greater your chances of winning!
Monday, Oct. 17–Friday, Oct. 21, at various locations
For your viewing pleasure
Pause the latest true crime docuseries you’re watching on Netflix to see films produced by your fellow Owls at the Diamond Docs Film Festival. Prepare to feel inspired by their stories that show the world through different perspectives.

Meet a multitalented star
Before officially receiving the Lew Klein Excellence in the Media Award, Oscar- and Grammy-winning musician Questlove will be the guest of honor at this event exclusively for students and invited guests.
