Thousands of gruesome videos of Iraqi soldiers and civilians being killed — a phenomenon some are calling "war porn" — are proliferating on the Web, where they're watched millions of times over. "The repeated watching of it can desensitize us to violence," says Temple psychologist Frank Farley. "And it may make some people seek out more examples, which could encourage the production and distribution of such videos."

More and more people are willing to reveal their location and spending habits online. It's a stark contrast to the early days of the internet when people used screen names instead of real names, rarely disclosed their location and cringed at the idea of sharing credit card information online. "I think the sharing of information with large networks really speaks to this need we have for building community and building connections with people," said Andrew Mendelson, chair of the Department of Journalism at Temple's School of Communications and Theater.
