Steven L. Johnson of Temple's Fox School of Business says sometimes the online blending of a person's main job and any after-hours interest might work, but it's probably best to keep a firewall between them. "It can get tricky," says Johnson, who teaches social media innovation. Most people know about Toxo because of its link to toxoplasmosis, an infection that can damage the fetus in pregnant women. "Newborns affected with Toxo tend to have a lot of problems," says Temple psychologist Lauren M. Ellman, "including low birth weight, enlarged liver and spleen, anemia, convulsions, fluid in the … brain."

Professors are increasingly using social media for posting assignments and interacting with students. Steven L. Johnson, an assistant professor at Temple's Fox School of Business who teaches a Social Media Innovation course, uses a number of online connectors with students. “As educators, we can take the stance that students are going to do what we tell them," he said. "Or we can take a stance that says we want every student to do as well as possible, and we’ll meet them where they are.”
