Ultimate event list: November 2023

Here are the most exciting things to do this month.

Halloween has come and gone, and November has quickly arrived! With Fall Break rapidly approaching, now is the perfect time to stack your calendar with Temple’s most exciting events and activities. Dedicate a chilly fall night to some live entertainment, or spend your free time connecting with fellow Owls before heading home for the holidays!

Temple’s event calendar has a complete list of events, but here are a few of our favorites.

Time traveling through the pages

If you’re interested in exploring the world’s past, consider attending a virtual deep dive into Temple’s collection of rare books, manuscripts, zines and artists’ books. Each week via Zoom, A Look at A Book invites students to join Tyler’s Art History Department as members share and explore a new artifact, analyzing the pages and discussing the historical significance.

When: Mondays (plus additional dates), 1:30 p.m. –1:55 p.m.

Where: Virtual

Swimming into shape

Temple’s fitness facilities feature over 100 pieces of equipment, including a six-lane 30-yard pool! If you’re looking to explore a new fitness venture, consider joining Campus Rec’s Swim into Shape program, which challenges students to swim 20 miles in a semester! If you race to win, there is a Campus Rec prize, plus some pretty serious bragging rights.

When: Tuesday, Nov. 7, 6 a.m. (but goes all semester)

Where: Pearson Hall, Pool 31

Mastering wellness

As college students, mental and psychological wellness is of the utmost importance. Acres of Diamonds, a lecture series hosted by the College of Education and Human Development, invites students to take a master class in self-care. This upcoming workshop will provide insights into identifying and cultivating mental and psychological health through informative tools and tips.

When: Wednesday, Nov. 8, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: Morgan Hall D301, Morgan Hall and Annex

Lights, camera and live action

Fall is the ideal time to cozy up and enjoy some entertainment! This November is stocked with plenty of live productions as well as films. The fourth year of the DiamondQ Film Festival will feature a selection of films created by or highlighting LGBTQ+ artists. The festival evening will also feature discussions with directors once the screenings conclude.

If you prefer live performances, don’t miss Temple Theaters’ production of Big Fish. This thought-provoking show challenges the notion of what it means to live in a larger world than our own; you won’t want to miss it.
