Temple’s 20/20 framework for campus development is coming swiftly into focus, with several major projects reaching milestones this semester. Among the signs of progress are the opening of the new Architecture Building, nearly completed renovations to the Pearson-McGonigle recreation center, construction of the first floors of the new student residence complex at Broad Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue and the impending start of work on a new Science Education and Research Center.

The Department of Architecture, which has shared space in the College of Engineering since the 1970s, recently moved into a new dedicated building on 13th Street, creating a win-win for faculty and students in both disciplines.

Temple men's basketball team held its first official practice in new state-of-the-art practice space in Pearson-McGonigle Hall, which is undergoing a $58 million renovation to be completed in March as part of the university's 20/20 framework for campus development.

Temple has created 250 four-year scholarships to be awarded over 10 years to students in the North Philadelphia neighborhoods surrounding Main Campus. Temple President Ann Weaver Hart celebrated the 2011 20/20 scholarship recipients at an awards ceremony yesterday with Mayor Michael Nutter and other elected officials.
