Neighborhood Foods wins $125,000 grand prize in Fox competition

Neighborhood Foods was the $125,000 grand-prize winner in the Be Your Own Boss Bowl, a university-wide business plan competition presented by Temple's Fox School of Business. Led by business manager Dylan Baird, a February graduate of the Fox School, Neighborhood Foods is a West Philadelphia cooperative that provides locally sourced food to farmers markets and restaurants.

Painters spruce up Philadelphia signage to update aging advertisements

Robert Blackson, director of Temple Contemporary, has forged a new partnership between Temple's Tyler School of Art and the city's Mural Arts Program to revive fading advertisements on buildings. Blackson views the program as a way to renew small businesses and, possibly, entire neighborhoods. “It could be a great way to boost civic pride,” Blackson said. “I think there's loads of potential to make it a project that's not about just paint and brushes.”

Temple rower fights back from hit-and-run accident

After suffering a devastating accident last year, Temple rower Fergal Barry, in the No. 4 seat of the Owls varsity eight, was back in the water at the Dad Vail Regatta. "I moved halfway across the world for it. You're fighting for your life. It's do or die at that stage. All the training you've done, you kind of throw out the window. The burn in your legs, the feeling that you have nothing left."

The online MBA program at Temple University’s Fox School of Business has been ranked fourth nationally in the inaugural ranking of Best Online Graduate Business Programs for Veterans by U.S. News and World Report. Of the 29 business schools ranked, the Fox School is the only one from the Philadelphia region.

The medical facility is Temple’s newest urgent care center providing an alternative to the ER for less critical medical issues and in most cases, with a shorter wait. “They are able to do more things than the average primary care office, but yet not require the services of an emergency room and compete for the time and attention of the physicians,” says Temple Physicians Inc.
