Larry “Chip” Hunter named dean of Fox School and STHM

Dear Colleagues,

Following a national search, I am very pleased to share that Larry “Chip” Hunter has been appointed the dean of the Fox School of Business and the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management. Chip’s first day will be Aug. 1, 2023.

Most recently, as the dean of Washington State University’s (WSU) Carson College of Business, Chip led business programs and faculty and staff at four campuses across the state of Washington, which includes the School of Hospitality Business Management. As part of a large public research university, he focused on strategy, student learning, fostering research, and building strong and sustainable teams and relationships. Prior to his position at WSU, Chip was the senior associate dean and Pyle-Bascom Professor of Leadership at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he also led the school’s full-time MBA program. Prior to joining the University of Wisconsin, he was on the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania.

Chip prioritizes sustainable approaches that align with institutional goals, address systemic inequity, and create a culture of inclusion and belonging. He believes that it is his mission to ensure that every student and every member of the faculty and staff can envision themselves succeeding. Learn more about Chip in this news story.

I want to thank the search committee for their dedication to this important appointment. Chip’s dynamic leadership in higher education and strong vision for the future are inspiring, and I know he will be a transformational dean at Temple. Please join me in welcoming Chip to the Temple community.

Sincerely,
