No need to wait for Saturday night to get your fix of sketch comedy. On Thursday (April 29, 2010), Temple’s student-produced variety show Smash Television recorded its fourth episode. Performed before a live studio audience, the SNL-style production features sketch comedy acts, stand up routines, musical groups and other entertainers, mostly drawn from the Temple student body.

Through research, mentorship, Fesenmaier celebrates life

When Daniel R. Fesenmaier was working toward his doctorate in geography at the University of Western Ontario, his advisor, Michael F. Goodchild, asked the same question every day: “What have you done to expand the frontiers of knowledge?” Some 30 years later, Fesenmaier, professor in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management and director of the National Laboratory for Tourism and eCommerce, is an internationally recognized scholar in the global tourism industry. A recipient of a 2010 Faculty Research Award, Fesenmaier manages projects in areas of travel and tourism impacted by technology and has conducted research for hundreds of tourism organizations across the world.

The Bell Tower looked more like a playground Friday as dozens of students broke out jump ropes and started jumping, just one of several activities held as part of the annual celebration known as Greek Week. The events bring fraternity and sorority members together for friendly competition and activities that benefit the community. And the students manage to have fun while doing it.
