Drive seeks 3,000 pledges to live greener

Temple's Office of Sustainability has kicked off a Sustainability Pledge Drive aimed at collecting sustainability commitments from 3,000 students, faculty and staff. The drive challenges members of the Temple community to make a commitment to living more sustainably in all areas of their lives, including transportation alternatives, energy use, food choices, waste reduction and water conservation.

Reality shows, talking heads and the Internet have become platforms of incivility, ripping at the core of civil discourse. Is the incivility reflecting something bigger in our culture? The Internet has given people ways to misbehave they never had before, due in part to the anonymity it affords, said Temple psychologist Frank Farley. "Human nature hasn't changed. People are fundamentally the same. It's the opportunities that are different."
