Last week, the Temple University Symphony Orchestra learned that a classical piece written by jazz legend Dave Brubeck on commission for Temple was nominated for a Grammy. At the same time, a piece composed by former faculty member Bill Cunliffe and recorded by the orchestra was also nominated for a Grammy. Both recordings were released on Temple's own music label. "For a nonprofit educational program, to receive this recognition is a really great outcome of the dedication of our faculty, students, and staff," said Robert Stroker, vice provost of the arts at Temple. “The students are thrilled, and -- for me -- that's what I care about."
