The broken instruments on display at Temple Contemporary will be used to create an original composition performed by artists from around Philadelphia.

Paula Scher, TYL '70, and Keith Hartwig, TYL '11, collaborated on a large-scale installation that provides a look at the entire city through a hand-painted map covering the walls and floor of Temple Contemporary.

The Restoring Ideals project was born out of a need to support local non-profit and civic organizations committed to preserving Philadelphia’s founding principles of tolerance, equality and independence.

The art gallery at the Tyler School of Art once known as Temple Gallery has a new name — Temple Contemporary — and a window full of neon signs. But the biggest changes are within, where Tyler Director of Exhibitions and Public Programs Robert Blackson has redefined the art gallery experience for visitors and enlisted the Temple and Philadelphia communities' to keep programming relevant.
